October 2019 Quest Challenge Level 9

This month's Challenge Level 9 featuring reverse combo check on the first few turns and a "normal" combo shield on the final turn. Only one battle/enemy that is Barbarossa. He will cast awoken skill bind followed by skill bind as a preemptives.

What is a reverse combo check?

Normally, you'd have to make a certain amount of combo to bypass the combo shield, but this time, Barbarossa wants you to do 0 combo on the first few turns.

Here are his tests:

First he will change to board then hides all orbs. Moving the orb will reveals it.

When you passed this test, he will change the board into two column of Fire on the 1st and 2nd column, Water orbs on the 3rd and 4th column, and wood orbs on the 5th and 6th column.

3rd test, he will change all orbs into heal and spawsn four bomb orbs after that.

4th test, he will change all orbs into jammer and spawns 6 spinners on the 2nd and 4th column on the top, middle and bottom row.

As a final test, he finally will gives you a 10 combo board containing Water, Heal, Jammer, bomb and poison orbs. six of each. Make sure that your team doesn't have crappy RCV or you will die when matching those poison orbs and not getting any heal match skyfall. Remember that you will take damage when doing the heal and bomb test so you won't be at full HP.

To get around this dungeon, use any leader with plenty of move time built into their leader skill. Leaders such as Ichimaru Gin (from Bleach Collab) or Hera-Nyx (farmable) are the best since they gives 10 seconds or more of move time.

First test, try to set up the board just like you would when you set up the board for the next combo and do 0 combo. Double check to make sure you don't make any combo.

Second test, move the two Fire orbs from the middle row into the right most column, pushing water and wood orbs two position from their starting position like this board:

Third test, move the bombs into this position to make 0 combo. Bomb will explode first when they're not being matched, erasing any vertical and horizontal lines adjacent to their position.

Fourth test, there's no exact way to do this but I found that it's best to make a zig-zag move starting from the first spinner on the 2nd column on the top row, just like you can see from the video.

Final test, you gotta make 10 or more combo. Barbarossa will gives you 10 combo board containing six each of Water, Heal, Jammer, Bomb and Poison orbs. This is pretty straightforward but remember that if you have crappy RCV or close to zero RCV, you will die unless you get lots of heal match skyfall.

There's another way to get around this dungeon: Skill Bind Resist badge. When you use Skill Bind Resist badge, you have 50% chance to resist skill bind even if your team gets awoken skill bound.

What's the purpose of SBR badge?

When you successfully resist skill bind, you can use skill. You can lock all orbs on the first turn and do 0 combo until the final test. But won't Barbarossa killed you when you make 0 combo on the final test? Yest, but you can use damage void skill such as Ganesha or Raphael. When you don't take damage from Barbarossa's execution hit, just do 0 combo on the next turn and he will sefl-destruct. Make sure you have enough skill boost so that all of your needed skills (lock all orbs and damage void skill) are up and ready on the first turn.

The other way to utilize SBR badge is by using a sets of gravity to kill Barbarossa. He has ver big HP and defense but gravity doens't care about those. You will need a lot of Whaledor for this one. At least four or five Whaledor needed and one Zeus & Hera with 45% gravity. With five Whaledor, you have 25 skill boost. Zeus & Hera has 3 skill boost so that gives you 28 skill boost. Put a true gravity such as Trailokyavijaya (20% true gravity) and Chandra Nalaar (10% true gravity) as assists. One Zeus & Hera, two Trailokyavijaya and one Kage or Hera-LUNA (15% true gravity) will get the job done.

But there's a catch when using SBR badge, since you only have 50% chance to resist skill bind, there's also 50% chance that the badge will fail to resist skill bind. When it failed, you're forced to quit the dungeon and retry until you successfully resist the skill bind. Probaly not very stamina efficient.

Gooc luck and have fun. See you next time!
